Ops Partner Spotlight: Jeff Pompeo

Our second spotlight on QDS Capital Ops Partners falls on Jeff Pompeo.  (In case you missed then, please check out previous pieces on Brendan Richardson, Lisa Rogoff and Marty Weiner, read more here on Brendan’s journey through the VC and startup world and the exciting work he is doing at Astraea.)

Jeff Pompeo is President and CEO of Caretaker Medical, an innovative med tech company founded in Charlottesville that develops medical-grade wireless patient monitoring technologies.  Its flagship product VitalStream uses a small, comfortable finger sensor to accurately measure non-invasive beat-by-beat Blood Pressure (“cNIBP”), Respiration Rate, Cardiac Output, Blood Volume (for hemorrhage detection), Arterial Stiffness, and other critical hemodynamic parameters.  The VitalStream platform’s ability to collect data from other BLE-capable devices, including weighing scales, glucose meters, insulin pumps and fall detectors means it can have broad sweeping clinical applications — however, the initial focus for Caretaker Medical is non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, telemedicine and wireless vital sign monitoring.https://astraea.earth/

Just a few weeks ago, the FDA awarded the company’s next-generation VitalStream™ wireless blood pressure and hemodynamic monitoring platform clearance.  CONGRATULATIONS JEFF AND THE ENTIRE CARETAKER MEDICAL TEAM!

Born and raised in Virginia, Jeff brings a three decade track record to QDS as a serial entrepreneur, angel investor, and board/advisor with a proven track record leading, growing and monetizing technology-driven companies across the full life-cycle of inception & funding to product-launch & exit.  Prior to Caretaker Medical, Jeff was President and CEO of PocketSonics (acquired by Analogic Corp) and COO of ADI Engineering (acquired by Silicom LTD) and President/CEO of GE-Cisco Industrial Networks.  He previously served on the board of directors of TSO3, Inc. (acquired by Stryker) and currently sits on the Board of Directors at the Virginia Biotechnology Association, the program oversight panel of the VA-Catalyst grant funding program, and advisory board for the JMU Center for Entrepreneurship.

Jeff holds a B.S. from James Madison University, and an M.B.A from the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech. Welcome, Jeff! And we know that our biotechnology entrepreneurs give a loud welcome, as well!
